Methodology & Sources
The site separates statistical measurement from editorial judgment and shows the categories used in every comparison.
All-Time / Career model
Career production combines points, rebounds, and assists per game. Longevity uses completed NBA seasons. Max PRA is the largest regular-season sum of points, rebounds, and assists per game in the stored season data. It is deliberately separate from Peak Season.
Career accolades are weighted in this order: championships at 20 points each; league MVP and Finals MVP at 12 each; All-NBA selections at 4 each; scoring titles at 3; All-Defensive selections at 2; and All-Star selections at 1. Visitors can change the balance between longevity and peak output and between production and accolades.
Peak Season model
Peak Season is selected as the strongest complete season story, not automatically the highest PRA. The comparison uses regular-season PRA, playoff PRA, season awards, championships, and supporting-cast change. The top four teammates’ combined points per game are compared between the regular season and playoffs. Supporting-cast drop-off contributes 15% of the default verdict; the other 85% is divided between production and awards according to the visitor’s sliders.
Season award values
Within Peak Season, a championship receives 50 points, league MVP 40, Finals MVP 30, Defensive Player of the Year 25, All-NBA First/Second/Third Team 10/7/4, All-Defensive First/Second Team 6/3, scoring title 5, and All-Star selection 2. These values are transparent editorial choices, not official NBA rankings.
Fantasy Five
The game uses regular-season totals and the original Facts Over Feelings formula:
PTS + (1.2 × REB) + (1.5 × AST) + (2 × STL) + (2 × BLK) − TOV
Per-game FOF points are multiplied by games played, rewarding production and availability. Players are ranked within PG, SG, SF, PF, and C in the verified historical pool. A top-five answer earns 100, 80, 60, 40, or 20 game points.
GM Desk
GM Desk is a daily five-man cap puzzle. Each position is dealt four options from different teams. The player locks one name at PG, SG, SF, PF, and C. Salaries are hidden until lock.
If payroll ≤ $164.961M, score = combined 2025–26 PPG.
If payroll > $164.961M, score = 0.
Cap hits come from the licensed BALLDONTLIE Contracts API for the 2026–27 season. PPG is calculated from licensed BALLDONTLIE game-player rows: total 2025–26 regular-season points divided by distinct games played, excluding playoff and non-participation rows. The $164.961 million cap is independently verified against the league's June 30, 2026 official release. The game does not model Bird rights, exceptions, tax aprons, or trades.

Limitations
No single model settles every basketball debate. Era, pace, role, injuries, roster construction, playoff opponents, rules, and position definitions all affect comparisons. The verdict is best understood as the result of disclosed inputs—not an objective universal ranking.
